Only for the English queen and her government we wouldn’t have all this disputatious argy-bargy.
Yes, she made good gestures on her last visit to our country (not hers), but what she needs to do now is to make the ultimate gesture and hand back the six counties which her forebears stole by force of arms and is similarly retained.
Then we can live like neighbours, rather than master and serf.
Ah yes, selective history lessons and the romantic belief that handing the sovereignty of Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland remedies little Ireland’s ills.
Today, we all know what lies behind this disputatious argy-bargy: sectarianism, notions of Irish purism & conflict mindsets.
Only when the peoples of this Island: the celt, the gael, the briton, the roman, the anglo-saxon, the scandanavian & the scot can live together as respectful equals will our difficulties resolve.
Eamonn is correct, God Save the Queen from the pantomime and daily displays of our bitter & contemptuous sectarian motivated politics.
Sherdy,
I understand the ‘The Antiques Roadshow’ is to be hosted at Hillsborough Castle during Her Majesty’s stopover. Why not pop along and have your opinions evaluated?
Robert, In which category of antiques will she be evaluated?
