This month will see the release of Belfast Built Ships, a new maritime dictionary listing every ship ever built in Belfast. The book is the brainchild of Dr John Lynch, former lecturer at Queen’s University. It aims to put into historical perspective the staggering achievements of Belfast’s shipbuilding industry – an industry which can be connected to almost every country on the planet.
Dr Lynch has kindly agreed to share some of the stunning pictures he has collected over ten years of painstaking research; pictures which depict the day-to-day workings of the shipbuilders during Belfast’s glorious maritime history:
