Justice Minister David Ford is gearing up to throw down the gauntlet to the Criminal Justice Board to either sort out the backlog of criminal cases and sluggishness in the system or else live with statutory time limited cases.
Mr Ford’s move is taking place against the backdrop of strong criticism today from the inspector of the Criminal Justice Inspectorate.
I have a few strong words for the lot of them!

The legal system is still very much a closed shop, a virtual old boys’ club (including a few old girls) so there is very little motivation for change. David Ford needs a strong new broom to sweep the cobwebs out of the system. Will he be brave enough? Don’t hold your breath!
