No Alibis but he is the last man standing…Meet David Torrans, a dying breed

David Torrans is a crime specialist running probably the last independent bookshop dealing in new books – especially crime – in Northern Ireland.

No Alibis on Belfast’s Botanic Avenue is ‘the alternative’ when it comes to bookshops: ramshackle, unpretentious and genuinely authentic. You are liable to bump into anyone either coming in or going out of No Alibis, a bookstore lost in time and in which to get lost.

Join me in conversation with owner David Torrans and his good friend Neil Shawcross, who peoples the walls with his many characters from the covers of many a famous crime book:
