Want to be mentored by experienced broadcast journalists and learn how a newsroom works? Then enter Breaking Into News!

Media Trust and ITV News have launched Breaking Into News 2011. If you’re 18-25 years old, this is your chance to win the opportunity to be mentored by experienced broadcast journalists from the ITV News network newsroom and produce your own news report.

You’ll need to submit a short description about yourself and your background, what you’d like your report to focus on and why you deserve the opportunity. Six finalists will be selected to spend four days based at ITV News and with the support of their mentor will produce their own news report.

Each finalist will present their finished reports to a high-profile judging panel including ITV News managers, Mark Austin, Julie Etchingham and executives from Media Trust. The winner will be given the chance to work alongside the ITV News at Ten team for a day, be presented with an iPad to help with future projects, and the chance to have their final piece considered for inclusion on an ITV News platform.
