Sotheby’s to sell hidden Bacon of Freud in London.

‘Three Studies for a Portrait of Lucian Freud’ 1965 will be sold by Sotheby’s in London next month. Today’s Daily Telegraph gives the portrait studies of Freud by Bacon full billing. This triptych by Bacon of his once very close friend Freud has reportedly been kept in private and unexhibited for 45 years. The studies are 14in x 12in. The emergence of these works by Bacon of a correspondingly famous sitter may well decide if the buoyant art market which obtained in 2010 will sustain itself in the New Year.
