The Flanagans and The Heaneys have been friendly for decades. Philip
who is a son of watecolourist TP would have grown up familiar with the
contours of Seamus Heaney’s head omni present, on his retina.This
particular work shown below is the artist’s AP carrying engraved
signatures of artist and sitter. This was one of an edition of nine.
Another example can be seen in the foyer of Kelly’s Hotel in Rosslare
Co Wexford. Philip Flanagan has moved away from sculpture at this
point in time opting to be a painter. Whether he remains an abstract
painter is not known.
