There is something nostalgic about these three Belfast heads despite the fact that there is little soft or nostalgic about this edgy painter for whom there is more regard nationally and internationally.
Rita Duffy is a consummately self reliant woman who knows who she is and what she wants to achieve in her work. She is political but strictly non sectarian in her every manifestation. She is ready to tackle whatever subject, however unpalatable. She doesn’t paint for applause.
This is to her credit.
